According to the New York Rangers, Vinny Prospal has been named alternate captain by the team. He joins Ryan Callahan, who recieved his “A” following training camp. Prospal, 34, has been one of the Rangers’ best players so far this season recording 4 goals and 14 assists (third in the NHL) in 15 games. He has also been of the league’s biggest bargains after signing with the Blueshirts for one year and 1.1 million dollars this summer. Prospal has a history with Coach Tortorella going back to their days with the Tampa Bay Lightning and has shown tremendous veteran poise so far this season.
I think this was an easy choice for this team and probably a move that could have been made sooner.
