Pregame Notes

With the call up of Hartford Wolfpack forward P.A. Parenteau, the Rangers line combinations for today’s game against the Ottawa Senators should look like this:

Enver Lisin-Vinny Prospal-Marian Gaborik
P.A. Parenteau- Christopher Higgins-Ales Kotalik
Sean Avery-Artem Anisimov-Ryan Callahan
Aaron Voros- Brian Boyle-Donald Brashear

The Rangers will have 4 centers today, hoping to avoid a repeat of Vinny Prospal playing 28 minutes like he did during the 5-3 loss to the Thrashers on Thursday. However, if the Blueshirts don’t click early, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Torts double shifting Prospal or Gaborik on the fourth line hoping to spark some offense. Unfortunately, a better move would have been to bring up a sniper like Evgeny Grachev and sit Voros but Sather and Co. have decided to play with the hand they have been dealt and we just have to hope that the Senators don’t jump out early and leave the Rangers scrambling.

Henrik Lundqvist ( 8-6-1, 2.62 GAA ) will start again in goal today and will be opposed by Senators’ backup Brian Elliot( 2-1-1 3.20 GAA ).
